Your Professional Running Coach

My professional experience and unique approach will provide the traction necessary for athletes to hit the ground running. I personally work with each trainee to help them achieve their individual athletic goals. I push but I also motivate. Early on, I identify what each client is capable of with my goal being to help them reach, then exceed, that potential.

I often joke that I don’t know what I want to be when I grown up. I have two undergraduate degrees, one master’s degree and four certifications to show for that. My early days on the courts and tracks transitioned to a degree in Athletic Training but it wasn’t until my 30’s that I discovered my love of running while pursuing a master's degree in nursing education & leadership.

With a busy school and work schedule, I found it hard to stick to a couch to 5k plan as a solo runner. Regardless of my ability to stick to a training plan hubs and I made it to the start line of our first race.  When we got to the start line, I was enthralled with the palpable buzz in the air. I decided on the spot that I was going to race that morning to see how fast I could complete the distance. As I crossed the finish line I was sure that I was going to be sick. I couldn’t figure out why people do this for fun. Although I didn’t know it then I had already caught the running bug.

That summer after connecting with the local running community, I would go on to train for my first marathon fighting through a bout of IT band syndrome. I learned my lessons about training balance, progression, and the importance of proper footwear through my mistakes. We continued to train, travel, make new friends and chase PR’s

I learned that you could become certified as a running coach and I decided that was the next thing that I would do as soon as a seminar was close to home.  Completing the course, I knew that I wanted to be able to coach and help others to reach their goals. Observing runners, I saw that they could benefit from strength training to enhance power, endurance and core control. Next thing that I knew, I was in pursuit of a personal training certification.

Now, I look back and see that all of my experiences fit together to bring me to this business. It gives me the opportunity to strategize and plan training for clients. I love the opportunity that I have to form relationships, offer encouragement, and help people crush goals they were afraid to set. My training approach is holistic. We focus on the balance between pushing the envelope with tough, targeted workouts to force adaptations and keeping your self-care in check for optimal performance.

I have the opportunity to combine my leadership and education experience with my passion for coaching, mentoring and running. When you select me as your coach, I’ll bring the science, encouragement, and accountability so that you can focus on your running. I specialize in goal setting and behavior change with an emphasis on success habits so that you can reach your highest potential.
